In the last 4 years, I’ve been part of the Anthony Town Council and recently was nominated to serve as Mayor Pro Tem. My time as a councilman may just be truly beginning, but I think that we (Council) have made tremendous strides in making the most of our limited resources to help improve the lives of our local residents. We bring tremendous ideas and successes from each of our councilman and staff members. We spotlight areas of opportunities by improving our streets, water/wastewater plants, list stations, parks and police department. These are the things that we still need to work on and improve together.Â
I’m a graduate of New Mexico State University. That led me to many exciting experiences. I’ve had the opportunity to work as a Grants Coordinator/IT Specialist for the Rio Grande Council of Governments and as an IT Director/Manager for the Centro de Salud Familiar La Fe. I decided to make a change and put my skills to work as a Network Specialist IV (IT Manager) for the Health and Human Services Commission (State of Texas). In the last 35 years, I gained a vast experience in systems administration, website development, network administration, database management, disaster recovery planning, strategic planning, management, and grant writing. In addition, I earned certificates from Microsoft, Cisco and the prestigious program from the Governor’s Center for Management Development.
After 23 years of dedicated service to the State of Texas, I have decided to retire. It was a difficult decision, but ultimately I felt it was time for me to move on and enjoy my retirement. I am proud of the work I did while with the state and thankful for all the opportunities it provided me. As I look forward to this next chapter in my life, I am excited about what lies ahead.
